Beginning in January 2017, airport noise from Witham Field Airport (SUA) in Stuart, Florida increased exponentially over western Martin County.
The Martin County Commission and Witham Field officials claimed “nothing has changed.” Residents in western Martin County vehemently disagree, however.
The number of flights overheard on a given day increased from a few unnoticeable planes off in the distance and the occasional jet to numbers in the hundreds every single day, and all day long.
On February 1, 2017, we started collecting data regarding the number of flights and the reason for them. Following numerous ignored complaints and apathy on the part of county and airport officials, this website was created.
It’s apparent that the only way the airplane noise generated by Witham Field will return to pre-2017 levels is residents’ consistence pressure on Martin County officials and the Federal Aviation Administration.
